Via Yugatech blog: Let’s look at how much a 1Mbps to 3Mbps residential DSL costs nowadays:
PLDT myDSL 2Mbps: Php1,995 (DSL only)
Globe Broadband 2Mbps: Php1,995 (DSL w/ free Landline)
Bayan DSL 1.5Mbps: Php1,699
Sky Broadband 2Mbps: Php1,999
The sky broadband speed listed above is for non-skycable subscriber, if you are a skycable user, it is 3Mbps..
Now let’s look at a rundown of unlimited mobile 3G by the networks and see if the prices are cheaper or not:
Sun Wireless Broadband 2Mbps – Php799
SmartBro Plug-It 2Mbps – Php999
Globe Tattoo 2Mbps – Php1,200
Well, it is true that they are cheaper but if you put in reliability and consistency into the mix, I’d still pay for a fix line. It is very inconsistent and not as reliable as a wired connection. There’s lot of capping policies even though Telcos do not admit this directly to its customers. ..........been using both a wired and wireless DSL and I should say that my wired one never fails as often and gives a consistent connection.
1. How to configure ordinary Sun or Globe or Smart sim to Sun or Globe or Smart internet sim?
2. Unlocked E160 Settings for SUN, SMART, GLOBE to enter in your unlocked USB
3. Share your USB with your whole house ROUTER
4. Get a external antenna for your USB Smart, Globe or SUN plug it
6. Globe tattoo unlocked, SUN USN unlocked, SMART BRO plug it unlocked
From Tonycruz website link follows below. More and more Filipinos have again gone wireless to connect to the internet. Recently, the three major wireless telcos have pushed down the cost of their wireless broadband modems or dongles to as low as P888 in a common effort to outsell competitors. The competition has gone so fierce that rivals Smart and Globe have come out with ads claiming their respective wireless broadband service is faster. Curiously, both did not include Sun in their ads. Read an up to date review of the three services, speeds, cost comparison at this bloggers site (although he did not include the new P2000 unlimited plan from Globe and Globe & Smart offer of P20 a day for surfing certain social sites or the new unlimited Blackberry surfing from SMART daily rate or the SMART BRO Share it at P999 a month. ) Read his comparisons and excellent chart here but you will have to highlight the site as its hard to read in brown http://tonyocruz.com/?p=2619
The blogger writes Globe and Smart are apparently still stingy in offering and approving applications for postpaid Globe Tattoo and SmartBro accounts. Sun Cellular has taken advantage of this by offering the widest choices for postpaid subscribers.
But SUN has made available an Easy Broadband 799 Plan which requires only the submission of one ID and the advanced payment of two monthly service fees, and without any contract. Those already with a modem or dongle can also avail of the SBW 799 SIM Only Plan – again without a long list of requirements and with a short contract of just six months.

yes, a good heart from www.filhacks.com are generating unlock codes for free. when i asked about unlocking my huawei e-1552 at a local cellphone repair shop, they bid me for 400 pesos. why would i pay for that steep price when you can really get answers from the internet.
how to unlock? simply replace the sim card on your usb modem such as globe tattoo, smart, sun dongles and it will auctomatically detect a change on it and ask for you the unlock codes. you have a limit of 10 tries and its screwed. unlocking the codes needs the IMEI number and model. i couldnt find a tool to generate it but, a lot of people offers to unlock the codes for you. others make money in exchange for the code.
once you have the code just type it in, then make a new profile with empty settings with just the default data only. then connect with the operator of your choice and voila you got yourself a mobile internet access.
why would you need to open-line your usb modem? its because if you do some traveling and needed some access on the field, and you are locked to just one carrier. signal depends on location so you just easily switch to a different carrier that has a good signal in that area you are in. so that you can maximize the speed and save money of buying another modem from another carrier. http://yellowbars.blogspot.com/2009/10/globe-tattoo-unlocked.html
LongCheer WM66 is the modem sold with the SMART Bro pre-paid kit. It is locked to SMART. You can get the SUN or Globe modem if there is no HUAWEI usb modem and get it unlocked on SULIT and then use it with SMART as well as it has a plug in for an antenna which would definitely increase your signal if placed near a window or buy the antenna panel from the link below which will plug into the plug it from SUN.
SUN; Globe uses the HUAWEI E160 and it has a connection on side for an external antenna which is nice. You can get unlocked at http://www.sulit.com.ph/ just type SUN unlock and you will get the instructions how to load the sign it details for SUN, SMART or Globe after it is unlocked. I have tested the service and it works.
To avail of these offers, just get regular load from your retailer and then
To avail of the Sun unlimited internet broadband 50 pesos one day i50 to 247

1. Limited coverage area Manila area mostly 2. Many areas where coverage is available are overloaded
3. Postpaid 2 year lock in period without a trial for 30 days to see how it works at your location is too long.
Advantages: 1. USB has antenna connections for wider coverage
side view of the USB stick with concealed slot for a micro-SD card and socket for an external antenna
2. Modem maybe used with any USB stick in theory if you use the settings found at the end of this blog
3. Speed in theory is very good at 2 mbps or 3 mbps depending on plan
Here’s more from Migs blog…
Sun wireless Broadband is slow… or should i say SUPER SLOW. Well, just like what i’ve predicted. Once people start falling for the low unlimited offers from Sun Broadband… this will eventually happen.
You know what guys, this is so simple. What you should have done is test the system first. Find a friend who has a SunBro or a SMART Bro or Globe and give it a test for a week in your area of work, in your house, 24/7. That way you won’t be tied or locked into servitude for a year or two years depending on the carrier
DRE says:
I tried all the things that HE said before i even read this article… Yes you might experienced a good connection around 2AM – 8Am but if you total all the average speed that they’re giving It’ll be around 200-300 KBPS. It’s not worth a money. Giving them P650 – P800 for unlimited connection around 200-300 KBPS is not right. See how the guy is trying to calm us down because I personally believed he knows the truth and only giving us half the truth of what he said & I totally agree with JOJO I believed this Guy is a SUN AGENT! DON’T BE FOOLED BY SPEED TESTING! I’ll will really appear you have a good connection but a for a moment only, after a couple of minutes you’re back at your 200KBPS average speed.
NO EXPLANATION NEEDED! Just consider this word MY COMPUTER IS ON ALMOST 15 HRS A DAY! & doing all the things you can do in the internet & also monitoring their connection. I TOLD you SUBSCRIBED at your own risk! I just given you a warning! TOL kung talagang tiwala ka sa SUN ARTICLE mo. Let others read yours & Ours. Then let them decide! If you really want to help others It’s a good thing you share your experienced to help & we did our part too… We are helping them also! We just have different way of helping! But I thank you for your article!
WHICH ONE IS THE BEST? This is the million dollar question of all mobile internet users in the Philippines nowadays :)
Is cost a good measure? Not really. The cost of connection is not a factor since all the 3 networks are offering very comparable rates.
How about speed? All 3 providers are also offering HSDPA, 3G, EDGE, & GPRS connectivity.
So what's the verdict? - Use Smart Bro when surfing on remote places in the Philippine - Globe Tattoo is the neutral choice but definitely not the fastest. (Personally, I use Globe tatoo since I can easily use my Globe Post Paid line to add some load to it):) - It's advisable to use Sun Broadband when you're not too mobile and just surf on coffee shops on key cities in Metro Manila and in the Philippines. If I don't have the convenience of having a Globe Post paid line to reload my Tattoo,I'll definitely go for Sun Broadband. :)
Yahoo answers comment Globe Tattoo vs Smart Bro vs Sun Broadband?
I am experienced with Globe, Globe Tattoo, Sun, Sun Wireless, Smart Bro, Smart Wireless, and PLDT DSL. Now back to Smart Bro.. if you are Using LAptop and roam around in Manila better Smart wireless prepaid or postpaid(1900 pesos). If you are stay at home better use Smart Bro (999 pesos /month).
Smart BRo speed 41-45KB/s (320-388Kbp/s) Smart Wireless speed 23-30KB/s (180-240 kbp/s) Globe Tattoo speed 12-26 KB/s Globe wireless speed 29-35 KB/s Sun depends on Area.. PLDT is wired connection... Bayantell is wired connection..
Globe tattoo, Smart bro or Sun Broadband Wireless?
=if you are an urban guy and wants good quality - go globe. globe has the best investment in 3g and 3.5g technology and has excellent signal quality in urban areas
if you are a traveller and relies on good coverage - go smart. smart has signal where globe and sun does not have one.
if you living in manila and wants value for money - go sun. unlimited is the way to go!
=Well said, exactly what I'm thinking as well, not to mention personal experience about the three providers. To add to that, Sun has been rolling out the newest technology among the three and it's just a matter of time before it overtakes the other two providers in terms of wireless broadband products. Anybody who has ever had any sort of internet service will know that it’s impossible to have a service that works 100% of the time from the time you sign up to the time you terminate your contract with them. Down times happen, technical problems come and go. That’s what technical support people are for–because no service is perfect.
However, Sun Wireless Broadband’s service is far from being just plain bad. It would not be an exaggeration to describe it as infernal not just because they had problems with the service, but because of how they handle the problem. From start to end, the experience I had with Sun is just horrible beyond words. If you are reading this post because you want to know whether Sun Wireless Broadband will work for you, let me tell you that it didn’t work for me. It’s not a signal issue, I live near a 3g cell site. It’s not a computer issue because it won’t work on two newly-reformatted computers. I wrote four articles while waiting for Sun Wireless Broadband to fix my technical issue last June:
I know it may be tedious, but if you want to know why Sun Wireless Broadband sucks, take the time to read the articles. As a former customer of Sun Wireless broadband, here are my observations about the service:
They don’t keep their promises – The sales person was supposed to test the service at our place, we made an appointment and everything, and he didn’t show up. During my technical calls to their call centers, I’ve been promised numerous times that a technician will visit, a supervisor will call, etcetera, etcetera… they never follow through with their promise. A supervisor called me back once, and that’s it.
They don’t know how to solve your technical problems – Their call center agents are demotivated, a lot of them are rude and unprofessional, and they’re not very technically inclined. I asked about the Terms of Service, they could not point me to a document online. I asked about their DNS servers, about tracerts and pings, all the basic things that tech support people should know… none of the agents I talked to appeared to know what they were talking about.
They have no established system to keep track of technical visits efficiently - A total of two technicians went to our house and the visits were poorly documented. In fact, these technicians did not ask me to sign anything to confirm their presence in our place. One of them took screenshots of speed tests and put them in a USB drive, and I’ve asked the technical support department if there’s any indication at all in their records of all of the things these technicians did on their visits and they said “screenshots? what screenshots?” The techicians who visited our place didn’t have a proper record of things that happened; they just jotted things down on paper torn off a notebook.
Terminating the service is a pain in the ass – After going through so much with Sun Wireless Broadband, I of course asked not to be billed for a service that I couldn’t use from June 14 to August 4. Until now they still say that it’s “under investigation” and for me to wait for “three to four business days more” as they “forward the issue to a concern group.” Meanwhile, they expect you to pay for service that doesn’t work and which you can’t use.
It is locked to SUN usb. You can get the SUN or Globe usb modem and get it unlocked on SULIT and then use it with SMART as well as it has a plug in for an antenna which would definitely increase your signal if placed near a window or buy the antenna panel from the link below which will plug into the plug it from SUN.
SUN uses the HUAWEI E160 usb and it has a connection on side for an external antenna which is nice. You can get unlocked at http://www.sulit.com.ph/ just type SUN unlock and you will get the instructions how to load the sign it details for SUN, SMART or Globe after it is unlocked. I have tested the service and it works. The settings for Globe and SMART are at the end of this blog but the USBs from Globe is now 895 and the unlocking is about 200 pesos. But with the new offer of 180 hours free the first month has to be weighed against the 895 usb plug it from Globe to be unlocked to be used with SUN if you choose that route.
